Eucharia Nnadi PhD, JD, RPh
VP, Academic Affairs and Program Planning
Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences

 

Dr. Eucharia E. Nnadi is the Vice President for Academic Affairs and Program Planning at University of Southern Nevada. She has over 28 years experience in higher education, eleven of which are at Vice President positions. She has served as Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Vice President for Personnel. Over the years several units other than Academic Affairs have reported to her, such as library, human resources, financial aid, registrar and student services, university radio station, cooperative extension, rural development, Title III programs, and institutional technology, to name a few. 

Prior to joining the University of Southern Nevada in July 2003 she served as the Vice President for Academic Affairs at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES), from February 1997 to December 2002. She came to UMES from Howard University where she served as the Dean of the College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. She began her academic career as an Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Administration at the College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Florida A&M University (FAMU) Tallahassee, Florida in 1981. She became the first female full professor at FAMU's College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences in 1989. Dr. Nnadi became the first black female Dean for a U.S. College/School of Pharmacy in 1994.

Dr. Nnadi earned the B.S. degree in Pharmacy, cum laude from Creighton University in Nebraska in 1977, M.S. degree in Hospital Pharmacy in 1978, and Ph.D. degree in Social and Administrative Pharmacy in 1982 from the University of Minnesota. She received her J.D. degree in Law with high honors from the College of Law at Florida State University in 1993. She has received training in Dispute Resolution Using Mediation, Total Quality Management,  Leadership Training and Fundraising to name a few.

Dr. Nnadi is an experienced and accomplished teacher, researcher and prolific writer. She has taught numerous courses to graduate and undergraduate students. She served as principal or co-investigator on several grants. She authored and co-authored over 50 articles/abstracts, which include chapters in textbooks, a textbook “Health Research, Design and Methodology” published by CRC Press and another textbook “Human Resources Management for Health Care Professionals” published by Howard University Press.

Dr. Nnadi received numerous honors and awards. She was inducted into Rho Chi Honor Society in 1976. At FAMU, she was awarded the Pharmacy Faculty Incentive Award for dedication and Outstanding Service in 1985, and the Golden Pen Award for greatest number of publications in 1988. At FSU College of Law, she received three books awards in 1991 and 1992 for receiving the highest grades in three subjects. She graduated in the top 8% of her law class in 1993, while carrying on full responsibilities of a full professor and a mother. Dr. Nnadi was inducted into the Order Coif Law Honor Society for her achievement in law school. She received the Pharmacist Award from the Maryland Pharmaceutical Society in May 1996. She is also a licensed pharmacist and an attorney.  She practices community pharmacy part-time.

Dr. Nnadi is a member of several national professional organizations and serves/served on several national professional committees including the College Board-Middle States Region, National Association of State Universities and Land-Grant Colleges (NASULG) Council of Academic Affairs, the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE) Accreditation Site Visits Team for Colleges and Schools of Pharmacy, APhA, USP, National Association of Boards of Pharmacy - Item Writer, Reviewer for Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board Health Affairs Division to name a few.
