UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN NEVADA
A Message from the CE Director
Thank you for your interest in the Continuing Professional Education Program at the University of Southern Nevada. This is an exciting time for us as we continue to hit the ground running with our high-quality live continuing education programs for pharmacists and technicians in Las Vegas, Reno and Salt Lake City. Because of the high demand for pharmacy law programs in both Nevada and Utah, we schedule these topics regularly so that our attendees meet state requirements for re-licensure. In addition, we carefully analyze educational needs by surveying pharmacists in each region and work with other ACPE accredited CE providers in each state to ensure that efforts aren’t duplicated.
We have been accredited by ACPE since July of 2006 and will continue to meet their rigorous standards for educational quality and non-commercialism. Our program faculty are actively practicing professionals (usually pharmacists or physicians) with significant teaching experience. We strive to go beyond the traditional lecture format, by requiring that our faculty utilize active learning strategies. In other words, our participants gain knowledge on the topics and learn how to apply that knowledge through the use of case studies and other problem-solving activities.
We have received many requests for online registration for our programs and have been in the process of setting up this feature for the past year. We are expecting to implement this feature by early 2008. Future plans for the Continuing Professional Education Program will include the use of technology to develop live web-cast programs that will permit real-time communication between the web-based participants and the program speakers. Once implemented, pharmacists living in more rural areas can participate in live programs without leaving their living room.
On behalf of the USN Continuing Professional Education Program, we look forward to continuing to meet your continuing education needs in the future. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions about our program.
