A Message from the CE Director

Thank you to those of you who continue to make our continuing education program a sucess.  We are getting to know a few of you better which means that you are coming back for more education!  As we are starting the next academic year, we are looking to continue to grow to meet the needs of the pharmacists in Nevada and Utah.  I wanted to take a moment to tell you what we've accomplished and what we're working on for the future.  I also think it is important to let you know why we believe we are different from all of the continuing education that's already out there. 

We are now offering online registration for all of our programs.  You can provide your credit card information securely with email confirmation and reminders.  In addition, once you provide your contact information, you don't need to provide it again if you use the same email address.  Your credit card information is not stored so you never need to worry about where your financial information is going. 

The policies from ACPE regarding commercial support of continuing education changed last year.  The University of Southern Nevada was in compliance with these standards well before they were released.  We will never select topics based on interests from the pharmaceutical industry.  We also will never let industry influence the choice of speaker or the content of our programs.  We also review materials carefully for information that is commercially influenced or not well balanced.  I believe this is one of many factors that makes our programs different.  We also make sure everyone is learning.  Our program faculty are experienced educators who emphasize practical applications and share real-world experiences.  Through learning assessment tools, we also ensure that you receive feedback on what you have learned, which most attendees really appreciate.

We still receive requests for online learning which will hopefully be implemented before the end of the year.  We will also be inviting other healthcare professionals to our programs so that we can learn and share information in a way that benefits the global healthcare community.  Our partnership with the Nevada Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists for the provision of accredited continuing education in Northern and Southern Nevada is an exciting collaboration.
