USN Pharmacy Continuing Education: Nevada Pharmacy Law (Classroom)

Register for the University of Southern Nevada College of Pharmacy Continuing Professional Education Program on Nevada Pharmacy Law.

Target audience: Pharmacists and technicians practicing in Nevada

Date: September 17, 2008

Time: 7 to 8 p.m. (light refreshments begin at 6:30 p.m.)

Speaker: Ron Shockey, RPh, Inspector, Nevada Board of Pharmacy

By the end of this program, pharmacists or technicians will be able to:

  1. Apply pharmacy laws regarding labeling requirements for prescriptions dispensed in the community setting.
  2. Describe requirements for ordering schedule II drug products.
  3. Identify situations in which information in a schedule II prescription can be legally changed.
  4. Recognize situations in which counseling on a prescription must occur.
  5. Describe the applicable laws regarding the transfer of prescriptions between pharmacies.
  6. Identify the appropriate ratio of technicians to pharmacists according to laws in Nevada.
  7. Describe who may perform order entry duties in a hospital or community pharmacy.
  8. Identify proper procedures for notifying the Nevada Board of Pharmacy for address and employment changes.

     

We will also be providing preceptor orientation from 5:45 to 6:30 p.m. to pharmacists who will be precepting P1 and/or P2 students this upcoming academic year. There is no charge for orientation if you do not attend Nevada Pharmacy Law, however no continuing education credit will be available for preceptor education.
