Professor Mullaney founded Ventures Medical Associates, a health care venture capital firm, in 1986. His firm invested in 23 companies over a 16 year period. He served as Chairman of the Board for eight of those companies.

He began his career at Johnson & Johnson in 1970 and served as Manager of Sales Planning before joining G.D. Searle (now Pfizer) as Marketing Manager in October, 1973. In 1976, he rejoined Johnson & Johnson as Director of Business Development where he directed its business diversification activities and introduced several new products for the company.

In addition, he served as Director of Marketing for the Baxter International Corporation, and directed the worldwide marketing efforts of the Critical Care Division and as Director for the International Group of Medtronic, Inc. before going to BCM Technologies, Inc. (Baylor College of Medicine) in 1983, where he served as President and Chief Executive Officer.

Mr. Mullaney has an undergraduate degree in Business Administration (Finance) from the Pennsylvania State University. He was awarded a graduate fellowship and received his MBA degree in Marketing from the Pennsylvania State University.
