Regina McFerren RN, CNM, MS
Assistant Professor of Nursing

Regina, originally a native of Cleveland Ohio, comes to us from Grand Rapids, Michigan, where she lived for sixteen years. She was Clinical Adjunct Faculty for Grand Valley State University, Hope/Calvin College of Nursing, Aquinas College of Nursing, and, Grand Rapids Junior College. Her area of specialty is children with rare disorders such as Acardi Syndrome, Angleman's, Hunter's Syndrome and Autism.

Her clinical experiences include the Open Heart ICU at Cleveland Clinic, community health with the Visiting Nurse Association, and Hospice Care with Hospice of Cleveland.

Always active in the community, Regina served on the speaker’s bureau of the Child and Family Resource Center, and other agencies on topics such as Shaken Baby Syndrome, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, Child Abuse and Providing Care to Children with Special Needs. She is a participant in a major follow-up study since 1995, with over 59,000 women conducted by the Boston University School of Medicine and the Howard University College of Medicine.

A graduate of Cleveland State University and the University of Phoenix, she will be responsible for instruction in the areas of Health Assessment, Fundamentals of Nursing, Adult Health and Pediatrics. She is an active member of the American Nurses Association and the Southern Nevada Black Nurses Association.

Her personal interest in Pediatrics began with the birth of her granddaughter Imani C. McFerren, in 1995. Children are viewed from an entirely different perspective when they belong to you. Regina’s personal belief is, ‘Anything less than nurturing a child is neglect.”
