Michal Banks AAS
Library Assistant

Michal is a Health Sciences library assistant at Southern Nevada’s South Jordan, Utah campus. Michal received his Utah State Paramedic Certification in June 1979 and his associate of applied science degree in Fire Science from Utah Valley State College in May 1982. Michal attended the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, Maryland in September 1986 for fire service instructor methodology.

Michal is a retired Air Rescue Firefighter Paramedic from the Salt Lake City Fire Department, Utah. During his career as a firefighter he also worked as a flight paramedic on an Air Med helicopter and fixed wing air ambulance with the University of Utah Medical Center. Michal was also responsible for teaching continuing medical education classes for the Emergency Medical Technicians’ at the Salt Lake City airport fire stations. Since his retirement, Michal has worked in a variety of job positions. He has been a legal investigator for the Workers Compensation Fund of Utah; has evaluated and assigned fire ratings for cities in Utah, Montana, Wyoming and Nevada for the Insurance Services Office (ISO); and has worked as an Endoscopy Technician for LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City. Michal has had a few personal medical set backs and is excited to be back to work in a less physically demanding and stressful job.
