Renee Coffman PhD, BS Pharm

Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences

Dr. Renee Coffman received her Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from Ohio Northern University in 1987. Upon receiving her pharmacists license in Ohio, she worked as a pharmacist in both the community and hospital settings, holding positions of assistant manager and senior staff pharmacist. In 1990, she entered the graduate program in the College of Pharmacy and Pharmacal Sciences at Purdue University, graduating with a PhD in Industrial and Physical Pharmacy in 1996. While at Purdue, Renee received the Kienle Award for Excellence in Teaching, the Jenkins-Knevel Award for Outstanding Graduate Research, and was awarded an AAPE-AFPE Association Fellowship in Pharmaceutical Sciences. Following her tenure at Purdue University, Dr. Coffman became a founding member of the faculty at Western University of Health Sciences, where she also held the position of Facilitative Officer for Student Services. While at Western, Renee and four colleagues received Honorable Mention for the AACP Innovations in Teaching Awards. In 1999, she moved to Las Vegas, working in community pharmacy while helping to establish the Nevada College of Pharmacy, where she is currently Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Associate Dean.

Renee is a member of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, the American Pharmaceutical Association, the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists, the American Association of Higher Education, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and Phi Kappa Phi and Rho Chi Honor Societies.


Renee enjoys spending her leisure time with her husband and daughter, traveling, hiking, golfing, and reading.
