Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs and Patient Care
This is a full-time administrative faculty position at the University of Southern Nevada (USN) College of Dental Medicine (CODM) at South Jordan, Utah campus beginning in the spring of 2010. The Associate Dean is responsible for providing leadership in the development of an innovative, patient-centered group practice model of patient care, in which students from all predoctoral years (vertical integration) will work in the clinic under the guidance of faculty mentors.
The faculty mentors will have direct responsibility for patient care, and will manage small group practices with their predoctoral students while providing direct patient care themselves. This model will include close coordination with the preclinical curriculum conducted in USN’s simulation center, the objective of which is to provide a seamless integration of pre-clinical and clinical education experiences for the student. This individual must have a commitment to innovation and primary care based upon interdisciplinary and interprofessional education. A dental degree and/or a doctorate degree is required.
This position also requires experience in the successful operation of clinical educational programs, experience with interdisciplinary clinics, and five years of experience in progressively responsible administrative and leadership positions, at least two of which must have been in an administrative role related to the provision of health care services. In addition, the individual must have experience applying systems thinking and information technology to the education environment and implementing continuous quality improvement. Experience in integrating community-based education in a predoctoral education program is desirable.

Associate Dean for Admissions and Student Services
This is a full-time administrative faculty position at the University of Southern Nevada (USN) College of Dental Medicine (CODM) at South Jordan, Utah campus beginning in the spring of 2010. The Associate Dean plans and conducts the CODM recruitment and admissions program to meet the changing needs of the dental profession and state of Utah and the intermountain region.
This individual will oversee, coordinate and manage the DMD recruitment and admissions process; establish best practices in recruitment and admissions, to include a structured applicant review process; provide a transparent and accessible admissions process to all applicants; establish and oversee the range of student services necessary to ensure compliance with CODA standards and to ensure a safe and robust system of student life; coordinate recruitment visits to local, state, regional and national universities; represent the dental school at recruiting functions and other related events; serve as chair of the dental school admissions committee and serve on school and other university committees; develop and implement strategies to maintain and diversify a strong applicant pool; establish relationships and networks with dental organizations to build a strong diverse applicant pool; and develop and monitor the effectiveness of admissions policies and procedures related to the mission and goals of USN and the CODM.
Since this is a start-up program with the first class expected to enroll in the fall of 2011, the Associate Dean working with the USN and CODM administration and faculty is expected to be a full participant in the CODA Initial Accreditation application. A dental degree and/or Doctorate is required. A minimum of 5 years experience in a similar position or higher at a College of Dental Medicine is required. This position also requires a working knowledge of dental school curricula and familiarity with the CODA accreditation process; experience and knowledge of admissions processes in a health professions curriculum (dentistry preferred); experience in developing, implementing and assessing the full range of student services; and experience and knowledge of databases (online admissions systems in the health professions preferred).

Associate Dean for Academic Affairs
This is a full-time administrative faculty position at the University of Southern Nevada (USN) College of Dental Medicine (CODM) at the South Jordan, Utah campus beginning in the spring of 2010. The Associate Dean plans, directs and oversees all activities related to Academic Affairs, ensuring that these activities meet the USN CODM’s mission, goals, objectives, and core values.
The individual will design and implement the CODM’s innovative academic curriculum, modeled after the “mastery learning/outcomes-based philosophy” of USN. The Academic Dean must be a dynamic individual with appropriate experience, academic leadership and communication skills to work closely with the Dean and the USN leadership to develop a new CODM in South Jordan, Utah. The Academic Dean will take the lead role to ensure the Initial Accreditation Application to the Commission on Dental Accreditation meets the Commission’s Standards. The Academic Dean, working closely with the CODM Dean and USN leadership, will oversee the initial and ongoing curriculum development of the CODM, the recruitment of core faculty, the infrastructure support for a vibrant CODM including fiscal, physical plant and human capital, and will ensure the CODM will accept an entering student class beginning in the fall of 2011.
This is a unique and special opportunity for an academic scholar to contribute to building a new CODM in a dynamic private University. A dental degree and/or doctorate level degree in the health sciences or health professions is required. This position also requires a minimum of 7 years previous combined teaching and administrative experience as a department chair or higher in a dental school, as well as demonstrated leadership skills in the development and evaluation of innovative or novel educational programs.

Administrative Accounting Assistant
The University of Southern Nevada is seeking an Administrative Accounting Assistant for the Business and Finance Unit at the Henderson Campus whose primary responsibilities include general accounting/administrative office support to the Controller. Advanced Experience Coordinator, South Jordan Campus
This position offers a unique combination of administrative and didactic responsibilities with research potential.

College of Pharmacy: Assistant Dean for Clinical Programs
The University of Southern Nevada College of Pharmacy is seeking a motivated, innovative, and caring individual to lead the clinical programs unit as the Assistant/Associate Dean for Clinical Programs (ADCP). This position reports directly to the Dean of the College and is a member of the leadership team within the College.
This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with strong leadership skills and innovative ideas to direct enthusiastic and driven pharmacy practice faculty. Responsibilities of the position center around mentoring and fostering the development of clinical faculty. This individual will play an integral role in guiding, advising, and evaluating pharmacy practice faculty, facilitating their research and scholarship, helping them to develop their practice sites, and assisting them in their experiential teaching and service responsibilities to the institution.
The ADCP also has oversight of the experiential programs within the College and guides the IPPE and APPE experiential coordinators on both the Henderson, NV and the South Jordan, UT campuses. The four experiential coordinators report directly to the ADCP. Additionally, this individual will also be involved in experiential site development as well as exploring opportunities for residencies and other advanced training with institutional and community pharmacy partners.
Required qualifications: Pharm.D. or equivalent experience, eligible for licensure in Nevada and/or Utah, precepting experience, and research and/or scholarly activities.
Desired qualifications: Previous leadership experience, development and implementation of innovative clinical programs in a healthcare or university setting.
Travel between the two campuses is expected; however, the ADCP may maintain a residence at either campus location.
