MBA Faculty Highlights
Professor Wendell Jones - Teaching Management Information Systems, Marketing, and Strategic Management.
He served as Vice President for E-Business Management Services for Compaq Computer Corporation. He oversaw 2,400 worldwide Information Technology service employees. He managed operations in North America, Israel, Asia, Australia, Latin America, India, and Europe. Dr. Jones also served as Senior Vice President for Technology for the National Association of Securities Dealers/NASDAQ Stock Market. He was General Manager for McDonnell Douglas Aerospace Information Services Company. He commanded the largest software center in the Department of Defense at the US Army Software Center. Professor Jones served as Associate Professor and Chair of Information Systems and Computer Science faculty at the US Military Academy, West Point. He received his PhD in Business Administration in General Management and Management Information Systems from the University of Georgia.
Professor Ray Young - Teaching Operations Management, Statistical Methods for Decision Making, and Leadership Creativity and Innovation.
He served as Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer of a Toronto based international airfreight airline. He was Director of Business Development for Emery Worldwide which was a $1.2 billion global company that pioneered global supply chain management. He developed capability for supporting multinational corporate customers with advanced customized logistics and information technology support systems. He served as President of a regional airline, Scheduled Skyways, Inc. He also served as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Policy and International Affairs for the U.S. Department of Transportation where he was a principal advisor to the U.S. Secretary of Transportation, and was the Secretary’s representative to the airline and financial community. He received a B.S.E. in Electrical Engineering from Princeton University and an MBA with distinction from Harvard University. He is completing his Doctorate in Civil and Environmental Engineering.
Professor Jack Zimmerman - Teaching Finance and Advanced Finance.
He served as Vice President Administration and Chief Financial Officer for Level One Communications where he executed initial public offerings and various strategic projects including acquisitions and partnerships. He initiated the relationship which led to its successful acquisition by Intel. He also served as Group Controller for Intel Corporation and Group Controller for Caterpillar Tractor Company. He was a Senior Financial Executive for General Electric Company. He has a MBA from Xavier University. He has completed his Doctorate in Organizational Leadership.
Professor Okeleke Peter Nzeogwu - Teaching Managerial Economics.
He serves as the MBA Program Director. He has over 25 years experience in Higher Education. He has taught several courses at both the graduate and undergraduate levels, and supervised graduate thesis. He has served as the Chair of Department of Economics, Business and Accounting, Chair of a Faculty Assembly, coordinated AACSB accreditation committees, and served on several university committees. He is the recipient of a university’s presidential teaching award and other teaching recognitions. He has published in referred journals/proceedings. His most recent book publication is Principles of Macroeconomics Learning Guide. He has presented extensively at professional conferences. Dr. Nzeogwu has served as grants reviewer and survey research consultant to various organizations. Dr. Nzeogwu received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering, M.S. in Chemical Engineering, M.B.A., and Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
Professor Karen Durkin - Teaching Leadership Communication.
She is presently Principal at Houldsworth, Russo and Company. She is a nationally-acclaimed speaker. In addition to executive consulting, she is a top-rated motivational speaker. Through her coaching, her clients gain the ability to deliver clear, concise, effective and most importantly, persuasive presentations. She has consulted and trained such blue-chip companies as Exxon, Mobil, AT&T, Intel, and NDC Health. She holds an MBA from The University of Louisiana, Lafayette.
Professor Bill Mullaney - Teaching Entrepreneurship.
He served as President and Chief Executive Officer of BCM (Baylor College of Medicine) Technologies, Inc., which was a venture arm for technology transfer. He also served as Managing General Partner for Ventures Medical Associates, which invested in pre-IPO healthcare-related businesses. Through its two funds, the firm launched over 20 companies, six of which became publicly traded companies. The company was ranked nationally for return on investment by Venture Economics. He also held various marketing positions of increasing authority with Medtronic, Baxter Healthcare, Johnson & Johnson, and G.D. Searle. He introduced three major healthcare products to the market. He directed the acquisition of two biomedical companies for Johnson and Johnson. He has an MBA in Marketing from Pennsylvania State University.
Professor Yvonne Schuman - Teaching Legal Environment and Organizational Behavior.
She brings over 20 years experience in law and human resource management. She started her career in Washington DC as a staff attorney for the National Credit Union Administration, drafting and interpreting federal regulations for federal credit unions. Since then, she held a variety of positions in federal financial institutions regulations and compliance, and later, entered into nonprofit service with the National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship and the world-renowned Aspen Institute. Since relocating to Las Vegas she served as General Counsel for American Kiosk Management and continues to serve as a consultant on human resource management and general business matters. She has been an educator since 1996, teaching at Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh, Marymount University in Arlington VA and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She received her BA from the University of California at Los Angeles and her JD from Georgetown University Law Center. She is a member of the District of Columbia and Pennsylvania bars.
