EmailIn order to be eligible for admission to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program, the applicant must:
- Submit a complete application packet
- Achieve a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 / 4.0 or its equivalent in order for the applicant to be considered for admission.
- Provide official transcripts on or prior to the first day of classes documenting successful completion ("C" or better grade) in all prerequisite courses, with the exception of the US/NV Constitution requirement.
- Provide official results of the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS).
- Interview with the Admissions Committee
Prerequisites
As of the August 2009 class, the College of Nursing has made changes to the prerequisite courses. The College of Nursing requires the following prerequisite coursework:- Chemistry/Biochemistry with lab – (4 Credits)
- Human Anatomy & Physiology (8 Credits)
- Microbiology with lab (4 credits)
- English Composition (6 credits)
- Humanities (9 credits)
- Introductory & General Psychology (3 credits)
- Introductory & General Sociology (3 credits)
- Statistics (3 credits)
- Fundamentals of College Mathematics or Higher (3 Credits)
- Elective (may transfer up to 12 credits)
- Nevada Campus Students ONLY: U.S. and Nevada Constitution Requirement (3 Credits) – May be taken within the first year of the program.
- Utah Campus Students ONLY: U.S. Constitution Requirement (3 credits) - May be taken within the first year of the program.

It is highly recommended that the College of Nursing Prerequisite Worksheet (.pdf 134K) be completed. The Prerequisite Worksheet is provided as a tool to assist in determining which prerequisites have been fulfilled and those still to be taken to meet the requirements for the Bachelors of Science in Nursing Program. Questions regarding transfer of coursework can be emailed to Ms. Imelda Revuelto. Please include unofficial transcripts or course descriptions.
Non U.S. Coursework
In order to have coursework from a non-U.S. college or University considered, a transcript evaluation from World Education Services (WES), or Josef Silny and Associates (JSA) must be submitted. Evaluations must be official and received by the College of Nursing in its original sealed envelope.The applicant submitting coursework in English Composition of Speech from non-English speaking foreign schools must have a score of 550 or above (paper-based), 213 (computer-based), or 79 (internet-based) Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). Please use the University of Southern Nevada TOEFL code 446.3.
The College of Nursing reserves the right to limit the number of students admitted based upon faculty and clinical resources. Top of PageTest of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS)
The Test of Essential Academic Skills is a pre-entry test used to determine an applicant's academic preparedness in reading, mathematics, science, and English. The TEAS is a required pre-entry exam for all prospective students wishing to apply to the College of Nursing program at USN.Preparation for the TEAS™
Assessment Technologies Institute, LLC (ATI) assists applicants to prepare for the TEAS™. Preparation materials and practice tests can be found by going ATI's online store.
TEAS™ Testing Sites and Registration Form
Students must have submitted an application at the time of registration to be eligible to take the exam at our Henderson or South Jordan campuses. Please email the Admissions and Enrollment Office for more information regarding the times, location and registration of the test. Students will need to pay the testing fees online when taking the test. The cost of the test is $25.00.
TEAS™ Test for Out-of-State Applicants
Out-of-state students should contact ATI at 1-800-667-7531 to schedule a proctored TEAS™. Applicants should inform ATI that they are taking the TEAS™ for the University of Southern Nevada College of Nursing. After completing the test, you must order a copy of the results from ATI and have them sent directly to the University of Southern Nevada College of Nursing. Only results received directly from ATI will be considered official.
TEAS™ Results
TEAS™ results must be official and sent directly to the University of Southern Nevada from ATI. Applicants who have previously taken the TEAS™ within the past 12 months should go to ATI's website to order the official test scores to be sent to the University of Southern Nevada.
Personal Interview
A personal interview with the Admissions Committee will be scheduled upon receiving proper documentation that minimum admission requirements are met or will be met prior to the start of classes.The admissions committee will consider each applicant individually in relationship to the entire applicant pool. All applicants will be considered using the same criteria.
Top of PageWaivers & Conditional Enrollments
Course or credit Waivers will not be granted. Students are required to complete all prerequisite coursework with a C or better grade.A conditional enrollment allows a student to take a prerequisite course (other than the US/NV constitution requirement) while enrolled in the program. A conditional enrollment will not be granted for any science (Chemistry, Human Anatomy & Physiology, or Microbiology) or statistics prerequisite course. Conditional Enrollment Requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis and require applicable documentation to support an applicant's request.

International Students
The University of Southern Nevada - College of Nursing accepts qualified international students and follows the Immigration and Naturalization (INS) rules and regulations on the issuance of Form I-20.
The College of Nursing curriculum requires a background check of all students in our BSN program. Due to this, all students are required to obtain a social security number in order to have a background check completed. For more information, you may visit the Social Security website.
