Minimum Admission Requirements
In order to be eligible for admission to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program, the applicant must:
- Submit a complete application packet
- Achieve a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 / 4.0 or its equivalent in order for the applicant to be considered for admission.
- Provide official transcripts by July 31, 2008 documenting successful completion ("C" or better grade) in all prerequisite courses, with the exception of the US/NV Constitution requirement.
- Interview with the Admissions Committee
Prerequisites
The College of Nursing requires the following prerequisite coursework:
- Sequential Chemistry I & II with lab – (8 Credits)
- Introductory & General Biology with lab (4 Credits)
- Human Anatomy & Physiology (8 Credits)
- Microbiology with lab (4 credits)
- English Composition (6 credits)
- Speech (3 credits)
- Humanities (6 credits)
- Introductory & General Psychology (3 credits)
- Introductory & General Sociology (3 credits)
- Statistics (3 credits)
- College Algebra or Higher (3 Credits)
- Elective (3 credits)
- U.S. and Nevada Constitution Requirement (3 Credits) – May be taken within the first year of the program.*

Non U.S. Coursework
In order to have coursework from a non-U.S. college or University considered, a transcript evaluation from World Education Services (WES), or Josef Silny and Associates (JSA) must be submitted. Evaluations must be official and received by the College of Nursing in its original sealed envelope.
The applicant submitting coursework in English Composition of Speech from non-English speaking foreign schools must have a score of 550 or above (paper-based), 213 (computer-based), or 79 (internet-based) Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). Please use the University of Southern Nevada TOEFL code 446.3.
It is highly recommended that the College of Nursing Prerequisite Worksheet (.pdf 152K) be completed. The Prerequisite Worksheet is provided as a tool to assist in determining which prerequisites have been fulfilled and those still to be taken to meet the requirements for the Bachelors of Science in Nursing Program.
The College of Nursing reserves the right to limit the number of students admitted based upon faculty and clinical resources. Personal Interview
A personal interview with the Admissions Committee will be scheduled upon receiving proper documentation that minimum admission requirements are met or will be met prior to the start of classes.
The admissions committee will consider each applicant individually in relationship to the entire applicant pool. All applicants will be considered using the same criteria.

Waivers & Conditional Enrollments
Course or credit Waivers will not be granted. Students are required to complete all prerequisite coursework with a C or better grade and meet or exceed the number of required semester credits.
A conditional enrollment allows a student to take a prerequisite course (other than the US/NV constitution requirement) while enrolled in the program. A conditional enrollment will not be granted for any science or statistics prerequisite course. Applicants who are requesting a conditional enrollment for a course (one course) must submit a written request to the Dean to include the following:
- Reason for requesting a conditional enrollment
- Documentation to support the reason for the request, if applicable
- Prerequisite course for which the request is being made
- Institution that the applicant plans to take the course at
- Dates and times that the prerequisite course will be taken
- A copy of the applicant's registration or enrollment in the class.

Only requests by applicants who have submitted a complete application will be considered. All requests will be reviewed by the College of Nursing Dean on a case by case basis in relationship to the entire applicant pool.
Note: A request does not guarantee approval for conditional enrollment.
