Financial Aid Process & Deadlines

PROCESS

  1. Must have a PIN (Personal Identification Number) before you can complete the FAFSA (See below).

  2. Apply for financial aid by completing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) on the web.

  3. You will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR) once your FAFSA is processed by the U.S. Department of Education. Review the SAR Comments and make any needed corrections.

  4. After USN’s Financial Aid Services receives your FAFSA and you are enrolled in your program, you will be notified via mail or email if any additional information is needed and/or to receive your Financial Aid Award Notification.

In order to avoid delays, the student must apply, complete the application in full and accurately, and notify Financial Aid Services of address and/or email changes.

OBTAINING A PIN
The Federal Student Aid PIN Website is your source of information for the Federal Student Aid PIN. Your PIN can be used each year to electronically apply for federal student aid and to access your U.S. Department of Education records online. If you receive a PIN, you agree not to disclose or share your PIN with anyone. Your PIN serves as your electronic signature and provides access to your personal records. You should never give your PIN to anyone, including commercial services that offer to help you complete your FAFSA. Be sure to keep your PIN in a safe place. If parent information is required on the FAFSA your parent must apply for a PIN in their name.
