Financial Aid Process & Deadlines

PROCESS

  1. Must have a PIN (Personal Identification Number) before you can complete the FAFSA (See below). 
     
  2. Apply for financial aid by completing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) on the web.
     
  3. You will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR) once your FAFSA is processed by the U.S. Department of Education. Review the SAR Comments and make any needed corrections.
     
  4. After USN’s Financial Aid Office receives your FAFSA and you are enrolled in your program, you will be notified via mail or email if any additional information is needed and/or to receive your Financial Aid Award Notification.

    In order to avoid delays, the student must apply, complete the application in full and accurately, and notify the Financial Aid Office of address and/or email changes.

OBTAINING A PIN

The Federal Student Aid PIN Website is your source of information for the Federal Student Aid PIN. Your PIN can be used each year to electronically apply for federal student aid and to access your U.S. Department of Education records online. If you receive a PIN, you agree not to disclose or share your PIN with anyone. Your PIN serves as your electronic signature and provides access to your personal records. You should never give your PIN to anyone, including commercial services that offer to help you complete your FAFSA. Be sure to keep your PIN in a safe place. If parent information is required on the FAFSA your parent must apply for a PIN in their name.

DEADLINES

USN's Financial Aid Office imposes specific recommended deadlines in order to process financial aid in a timely manner. All students are strongly encouraged to abide by the recommended deadlines. Late applications will be processed but the funds may not arrive by the tuition due dates.

2010-2011 Recommended FAFSA Deadline: March 1, 2010

2010-2011 Recommended Additional Documents Deadline:

3rd Year Pharmacy Students/ 2nd Year Nursing Students/ AEODO Residents/ MBA Students - April 12, 2010

2nd Year Pharmacy Students/ New Students - May 3, 2010

In order to complete the financial aid process additional documents are required:
 

2010-2011 Recommended Loan Application Deadline: 4 weeks before the start of the student’s program

All pertinent USN Loan Request Statements, MPNs, private loan applications, or any other documents should be completed by the recommended deadline to ensure that funds be available by the tuition due dates.
