SCHOLARSHIPS
Several scholarships are available to students attending the University of Southern Nevada. You must complete the FAFSA application and check with the program you are interested in for deadlines and information.
GRANTS
Grants are free money and do not have to be repaid. Normally grants are awarded to students with high financial need. Federal formulas determine who can be awarded these grants. The most common grant is called the Pell Grant. You must complete the FAFSA application to determine eligibility. The Pell Grant is only available to Undergraduates working toward their first Bachelor's degree who also demonstrate a high financial need.
LOANS
Loans are funds that are borrowed and must be repaid. There are several different types of loans for students, including federal and private. Stafford Loans are federal loans for Undergraduates and Graduates and is based on financial need. Grad PLUS Loans are available for Graduate students and is based on credit. Loans are available (PLUS Loans) for parents of Undergraduate students, eligibility is based on credit. Private Student Loans are also available based on credit. Plan carefully if you choose to borrow a student loan. If you are offered a student loan as part of your financial aid award, you have the option to accept, reduce, or decline the loan. While loans may be necessary in order for you to attend college, students should borrow conservatively.
