Karla is the Administrative Assistant to the Dean at the College of Pharmacy. Born and raised in Michigan, Karla moved to Las Vegas 4 years ago to be near her husbands family and her sons who were living in Phoenix.

Prior to coming to work at the University of Southern Nevada, Karla worked as the Administrative Assistant/Secretary to the Pharmacy Services Department at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center and Sunrise Children’s Hospital and prior to that position she worked as the Administrative Assistant to various department directors at Mercy Hospital in Cadillac, Michigan. After working in the medical field for 15 ½ years in Michigan and 2 ½ years in Las Vegas, the transition to working in an academic environment at the University of Southern Nevada College of Pharmacy has been fantastic. Prior to going to work for Mercy Hospital, Karla owned and operated a Family Day Care home where she helped raise approximately 35 children over the years.

In her free time, Karla enjoys spending time with her husband of 31 years, Mike. She also enjoys their sons Adam and Aaron, daughter-in-law Carina, and her 5 year old grandson, Anthony. She loves to travel, play cards, watch sports (in person and on TV), and do scrapbooking. Her family means everything to her, and she considers the students, faculty, staff and administration of the University of Southern Nevada as extended family members.
